I tried to do some push ups tonight to see if I'd made any progress. I managed 6. SIX! That's 2 less than the 8 I managed when I 1st started working on this. haha! Maybe I shouldn't have waited til post-workout to do them. But then again, tonight's workout didn't target arms and back at all, so...blah. I did 6 push ups. That's that.
I am so diggin' pinterest! Have you guys seen the plethora of healthy recipes there, all with photos? I've made a few snacks and sides I've found there so far, and I've been saving and printing out plenty of others. I started a recipe notebook with print outs. There is certainly no shortage of scrumptious food options for eating healthy. I'm finding I'm psyched for each new meal, especially when I'm planning it out ahead of time.
Today's great find: smashed chickpea and avocado salad:

do you still count cals when you eat whatever you want? that chickpea avocado sandwich looks INCREDIBLE!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, at least for this period of my journey, when I'm just starting to get a grasp on what I eat, what I crave, and what I should be eating - I'm going to count all my calories everyday to see how they break down. It's hard though, after a social gathering with lots of foods I didn't prepare and have to guess at the nutritional components of. Right now I'm about to meet a friend w/ out kids at a pizzeria. I was considering getting the whole wheat veggie slice they usually have there, but I can't find definitive nutritional info for something like that, and the variety in the database at MyFitnessPal is very diverse. Rather than play the guessing game, I just ate something else and will stick to a coffee while I'm there. (I wasn't craving pizza anyway. It's just a place to socialize.)
DeleteI like the calorie counting though! Don't you? (with your cute notebook?!)
It must feel great to have that flexibility when it comes to food. It's all about balance, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI haven't checked out pintrest, but I will now! That chickpea avocado sandwich looks amazing - and something right up my alley too :)
The body reacts to fatigue in different ways -- 6 push ups is great. Don't be discouraged! :)
Sandwich looks scrumptious! That sounds like a good balance on eating :)
