The best compliment ever!

I got the best compliment ever from my fiance yesterday.  I feel a little vain to tell people about it, and I hope I'm not lacking humility for doing so - but I'm just so psyched about it that I'm eager to share it.
We went to an event for a charity he's on the board of.  I wore a simple below-the-knee cotton dress with a cute red and white print on it.  It has cap sleeves and a V neck.  It's a modest cut, but it's thin cotton and really does hug certain curves and drape nicely, without being tight.  I haven't worn it in a few years b/c my belly looked bulgy in it.  This week - it doesn't.  The amazing compliment:  My guy told me that though he knows I'm not a possession or a trophy, he couldn't help but be really proud to be with me tonight looking like I did.  He said I looked perfect - that the dress wasn't revealing and I wasn't trying to look sexy, but I just couldn't help it - I made the dress look hot.  I've never gotten such a great compliment before.  I'm still beaming!  I mean, really - that'd what it's all about!  To look great without looking like you're trying to.  Ah, I so love that man...

yesterday's report:

I think I like having these every-other-week let loose day, to eat twice as many calories as usual.  Today's diet includes a reception w/ wine and hors d'oeuvres and a nice dinner in an Italian restaurant my guy and I stumbled upon when walking back to our car from the reception.  ($250 for 1 wine, 1 shared appetizer and 2 entrees.  If you break it down by dollars per calorie though, it seems somewhat of a bargain!)

Psyched for tennis in the morning!!  Gonna burn off that orecchiette pasta w/ ground sausage and broccoli rabe swimming in garlic olive oil, and all those fancy, yummy hors d'oeuvres that I wasn't even sure about the content of.  I kinda wish I could earn back the dollars I spent one by one in the same fashion.  How'd THAT be for exercise incentive??

  1. What a wonderful compliment - you should be glowing :) It's so nice when your partner (or anybody) makes a comment that makes you feel reassured that all the hard work you do is paying off.

    Have fun at tennis :)
